House League hockey has been slowly declining in all of the 7 leagues in the Scarborough Hockey Association for the past few years, unfortunately this year has been the worst and we feel at this time we can no longer provide a positive hockey experience within our organization.
We have decided to merge our house league division with the Agincourt Canadians so the players who have registered will be able to play on teams with players of similar ages e.g.: 6 & 7 yr. olds, 8 & 9 yr. olds... Although the numbers have declined at the Canadians as well, with the two leagues combined, each division will have 4 plus teams with age appropriate players.
This is a great opportunity to provide better hockey for players to develop their skills in their own age brackets ensuring a better hockey experience for everyone. We will keep our competitive SHA teams and will continue to promote the program within the SHA.
If you decide to stay with the league and move to the Canadians organization we will transfer your money to their league, provide you with the schedule and be there to answer any questions. If you chose to go elsewhere we will reimburse in full your registration payment.
We apologize for the late notice but we had hoped to the very last minute our registration numbers would increase, and if they did not, what our course of action would be. This has been a painful decision but a necessary one if hockey is to survive in Scarborough. We have put careful consideration into this merger and hope that everyone will join us for a fun and exciting season under a new roof.
